Ruxton Design Corporation, acting as the prime consultant, prepared the final plans, specifications and estimates for several high profile areas in Baltimore City including the nationally known Inner Harbor facility and the adjoining Constellation Pier, the historic Mount Vernon Cultural District and the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of Music. The most salient features of these projects were the design and configuration of brick and concrete pavers.
While doing research for these projects, we contacted experts in brick paver design in both the USA and Great Britain and formulated our own procedural standards. Based on our accumluated knowledge, we prepared two papers for the City’s Department of Transportation, one comparing sand versus bituminous concrete setting beds and the other extolling the physical and aesthetic virtues of using high quality, beveled edge, Application PX brick.
The overall benefits derived from using such brick pavers enhances the prevailing cultural environment of harbor esplanades, sidewalks and streets.
