Highway Design
As a prime consultant, Ruxton Design Corporation has completed more than 60 highway resurfacing, rehabilitation and reconstruction projects for Baltimore City's Department of Transportation, many of which were on some of the City's most heavily traveled arterial highways. The work encompassed preparing the final plans, specifications and estimates for these projects, which included six Federal Aid Projects that were prepared using the State Highway Administration’s criteria.
On our first project with the City in 1996, we completely revamped the format of the drawings that were included in the Contract Book. The City was so impressed with what we had accomplished that they directed all their other resurfacing consultants to use the format we developed. That format is still being used to this day.
We are completely familiar with the City's Department of Transportation's standards, procedures and protocols and have a cordial and professional relationship with the Department's engineers.
Although Ruxton Design no longer seeks contracts as a prime consultant, we continue to perform resurfacing work for the Department of Transportation as a sub-consultant to other consulting engineering firms. We look forward to providing our highway design expertise in other jurisdictions within the state in the future.
