ALTA Survey
ALTA surveys, more formally known as ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, are performed in accordance with the requirements and standards as established by the American Land Title Association (ALTA) and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM). They are essentially “souped-up” boundary surveys. ALTA surveys are usually requested by title companies, attorneys and lending institutions when they are involved with real estate transactions involving highly valuable, commercial properties.
An ALTA survey has more stringent accuracy requirements than a boundary survey, requires considerably more field data collection, and requires a more detailed final plat. Though some of this information is requisite for all ALTA surveys, there is optional information - such as determining the location of underground utilities and showing the contours of the land - that the Client may elect to have shown on the plat.
The required and optional information for ALTA surveys, as well as the accuracy requirements, are described in a document available from the Web site of the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping. For your convenience, we have included the complete ALTA specifications here and also have separated these into sections as described above.
- Complete Specification (6 pages)
- Required Parameters (pages 1 to 3)
- Optional Parameters (pages 4 to 5)
- Accuracy Standards (page 6)
Pricing
ALTA surveys are priced individually based on the client's specific requirements and the size and complexity of the property.
